You can have your own picture galleries and record shows for people to watch, but as far as I know you don't get paid for these. The idea is probably to give customers a chance to check you out before they go private with you, or when you're not online for live shows.

  RULES

They say that the most important rule is that you can't be rude to customers under any circumstances. This is apparently the fastest way to get completely blacklisted from Webcams, but they also say that if the customer is unreasonable you won't be held accountable and it's ok for you to kick them out of your room.

You can't do anything obscene or possibly illegal, such as bestiality, display human excrement, incest (real or implied), anything to do with pedophilia or underage models (this includes role playing), or anything else. You can't make dates off Webcams.com or use the site as an 'escort service'. You can't make contact with customers off the site or give out an email address for customers to use to contact you.

They also tell you to respect other performers, that means you can't bad mouth them to customers. Bad mouthing the Webcams to its customers is also a no-no.

They allow you to work on other cam sites simultaneously, as long as you don't neglect your Webcams room.

They have even developed a system that exposes members who have multiple accounts, and whether they have bad feedback on any of them. This is a great way of avoiding annoying or troublesome members!

According to AdultWork's terms of use you can't say, write, transmit or do anything that would cause annoyance, inconvenience, harassment or needless anxiety to others, harass others, spam, use foul, threatening or offensive language including racist, sexist, ageist, homophobic or sexually explicit language where inappropriate, make insulting remarks to or about other users of the site, distribute illegal, copyright infringing, indecent or offensive material or any messages or content that may incite disorder or encourage illegal activities or that causes or may cause harm to minors or animals, or impersonate another person or user of the site.

Personally I think it's worth spending a little credits to get featured, as it will guarantee you more exposure = more shows. And when you buy the featured spots early enough, they only cost a couple of credits per day.

Also make sure you try their Direct Cam feature at least once. For independent cam girls it might take some time to get used to, you know, always having to be ready, but if you're used to working in your own cam room, it'll be a piece of cake.

You might spend a lot of your time trying to convince a guest to join the site, only to realise they were never going to join and were just trying to get a free sexy chat etc. At CamContacts your viewer can choose to show you his webcam with the CamToCam feature, by just clicking a button before they enter. Another thing I like about CamContacts is that they have discussion forums and a chatroom for cam hosts and viewers to exchange thoughts. CamContacts also has a picture gallery feature, and you can make pre-recorded shows, too.

  RULES

Apart from the usual set of rules (underage sex, bestiality, torture, incest, fisting, drugs and excretory functions) there doesn't seem to be many restrictions as for what you're allowed to do in video chat sessions and on the site. They even let you give out your contact details, such as messenger ID's, e-mail addresses and phone numbers. They also allow you to put your website URL in your profile as long as you put a link to CamContacts on your website. However, you obviously can't try to get members to pay you off-site if you don't specifically want to be banned from their network ;-)

I'm surprised by the number of "pros" I listed above, as I wasn't that impressed with the site overall. I believe it's the unregistered chatters thing that lowered my opinion of CamContacts. At LiveJasmin you don't have to participate in free chat with guests and members, but I found that you really don't get much business if you only choose to do private chat. Free chat comes in two flavours, video chat and plain text chat. I believe your sound is on by default in the free video chat.

What I initially found confusing is that you get paid a different percentage for your private chat depending on whether you do free chat or not. If you do free chat and then get a member to go private with you, you get paid 40% of your per-minute rate. If you choose not to do free chat and members come straight to your private room, you only get 33% of your rate. I guess this is their way of rewarding those who have enough patience to entertain guests ;-)

The feature I like most about the site is their performer awards system. It's basically just a ratings feature, BUT the 20 highest rated chat hosts in each category get cash prices from $500 to $25.

You can also make pre-recorded cam shows at LiveJasmin, and you get paid 39% whenever they get watched. This is just a guess, but I think if making pre-recorded shows was worth it and people actually watched them, LiveJasmin would take a bigger cut ;-)

  RULES

As mentioned in the "cons" below, LiveJasmin doesn't seem to have much information on their site for performers. I couldn't find a single line on their short terms of service page for chat hosts, so I can only assume they have the same set of rules most cam sites have. Don't do anything illegal and you should be fine ;-) If anyone finds any information on rules (or on anything else for that matter), let me know!

I think you'll be happy to work on LiveJasmin if you have time and energy for the free chat and for trying to get high ratings. Oh, and if you don't mind having your sound on. Having good sales skills doesn't hurt either, since doing private shows only isn't worth it on this site in my opinion.

Before I even try to make sense of all their extra features, I'm going to tell you how to basics work. At ImLive it's up to you if you want to enable free chat in your room, but it sure helps by giving you more exposure. They also let you choose whether you want to allow other people to enter your room when you're in pay chat, but by default your room accepts chat requests from others even when you're already camming for someone. ImLive also has a cam2cam feature for customers that want to show you their webcam. So be prepared to see some genitals ;-)

One thing to keep in mind is that whenever someone enters your pay chat, you don't get paid for the first 20 seconds. I suppose it's great for the customers - they can check you out for free - but it can be frustrating for chat hosts, as you always get freeloaders that only spend that 20 seconds in each room before moving on.

ImLive has a tip feature, but as far as I know members can only tip you after they leave your pay chat. When they exit they get a prompt to tip you, along with a prompt to rate you, which is nice, as not many guys would take the time to rate you otherwise.

Recently they've added a couple of new features such as "Key Holes" and "Better Together". If you enable Key Holes, anyone can take a peek at what's happening in your room and you won't get notified. You will get paid a little for this, and it requires no work from your part, but don't expect it to have a significant effect on your income. Same goes for Better Together, where a member can choose to watch two chat hosts at the same time. ImLive's Happy Hour feature has received some mixed feedback from hosts. Hosts that earn more than $20 a day are eligible for Happy Hour, and get paid a flat fee of $10 per hour, while for members Happy Hour is cheaper than normal rates. According to ImLive, Happy Hour is mainly for the girls to promote themselves and get more exposure, but apparently it doesn't make much difference, hence hosts aren't too keen on doing Happy Hour. One of the most interesting features on ImLive is their sinulator feature. The sinulator is basically a vibrator that can be controlled over the internet, in this case by the viewer. You have to buy the sinulator yourself if you wish to offer this to your viewers, but I would imagine that a lot of viewers are interested in this feature, and not a lot of girls seem to be offering this at the moment. However, you only get 25% of your rate when offering sinulator chat. I personally don't understand how they justify taking the extra 10% for "sinulator fees", if anything the host should get extra for offering something special! Occasionally ImLive throws theme parties such as Eastern and Christmas, and when they do, hosts who dress up accordingly get the top spots in listings. This can be annoying if you're not the type of girl who likes to wear silly costumes, or if you don't have a large wardrobe.

ImLive always seems to have some sort of competition or a campaign running too, and this is great if you like cash prizes and don't mind making extra effort ;-) If you're not up for taking part in competitions, but are popular, ImLive will reward you anyway. Top hosts are said to receive luxury gifts such as jewellery, clothes, beauty products and electronics every two weeks. So working hard certainly pays off at ImLive! And then there are ImLive fan clubs. You have to enable your fan club in your host page first. Members pay around $16 (of which you get 50%) for a months access to your fan club, and that gets them discount from your chat and some free Happy Hour credits. You can make this feature even more profitable for yourself if you are good at recruiting new fans for your club - hosts who have requited the most members in a pay period get cash rewards as big as $300.

ImLive also tell you that a fan club will guarantee you more exposure by them, and by your fans who will tell their friends about you and spread the message. I don't doubt this, but as the skeptic I am, I find it hard to believe that it will make you as much money as they promise. But you are welcome to prove me wrong ;-) Finally, what I hope is the last feature I need to wrap my head around, the ImLive referral scheme. There are two versions of this: the member referrals and chat host referrals.

Let's say you know a guy that isn't an ImLive member yet, but would like to see you on cam. If you refer this guy to ImLive and he cams with you, you get 55% instead of your usual 35% cut.

If you have cam girl friends that don't have an ImLive account yet, you can refer them to the site and after they've spent 90 minutes in chat you get a $200 referral reward.

  RULES

The more popular you are on ImLive, the more they seem to keep an eye on you. They are especially strict about giving out your contact details or mentioning your website, even if your viewer happens to know about your personal website.

If you run a fan club, you get almost 100% of that prize, while others apparently get less. That just seems silly to me, that you've got to pay them for a gift they give you! They don't tell you this before you complete your full registration, so it feels as if they promise this stuff just to get more hosts to sign up.

There is also a rating system in place, and hosts who have won an award get the top spots on their main page. That's a lot of exposure considering Cams is in the top 600 websites in the world! If you sign up with Cams I suggest you also take advantage of the pre-recorded show feature. As on ImLive, you can make videos and get paid when someone watches them. It won't make you rich, but everything helps.

  RULES

Cams seems to require you to keep your clothes on in their free chat. Nude chat has less rules than on most sites; they allow things such as bondage, roleplay and tear fetish (I know!) among other fetishes. And, of course, the usual set of rules applies to Cams aswell.

Cams slightly lacks personality and unique features, so I'm going to have to base my opinion solely on their fees and their traffic. The cut they give you is one of the lowest though, so obviously you will have to work more to make the same amount of money you could on another site.

It seems like active iFriends chat hosts can make pretty decent cash with their fan club feature. Some even make more than half of their total income from their fan clubs, so it sounds like something worth having. You get 50% of the monthly fee that members pay when they join your fan club, this fee can either be $14.99 or $29.99 per month. It can also be free for your regular viewers. As a fan club owner you also can offer your fan club members pay-per-minute phone calls.

Basically your fan club is a tool that you use to make more regular viewers, promote yourself and keep your excisting fans interested in you by offering all sorts of special features including diary, private e-mail address and phone number, discussion board, contests, screensavers, signed pictures, newsletters and much more - and even a wake-up call every morning recorded by you!
